Ghost In The Shell was one of my earliest exposures to anime, I remember renting it from Blockbuster (r.i.p.) when I was in middle school.  I made sure that my mom was aware of how not violent and not sexy anime was by watching Toonami, which as we all know showed violent and sexy anime that was heavily censored.  Eventually she thought It was harmless and would allow me to rent anime, which at the time had a big YRV (youth restricted viewing) sticker on the box.  The film has alway stuck with me as being one of those great anime films from the late 80’s to the mid 90’s, Like Akira and the second Patlabor film.  Naturally I’m also a fan of all things Ghost In The Shell, the manga, the other films, the Stand Alone Complex series and now I’m starting to get into the games.  I picked up this game on ebay for a steal, like $2.50 + shipping.

This game was worth every penny.  The controls are easy to master and it has a great interesting story line and all the cut scenes are animated with the original voice actors.  The opening of the game alone is praised by fans as one of if not the best opening ever.  It definitely pulls you in an makes you want to play the game, when I first popped it in I was excited to get started.  Take a look:

In the game you are the new rookie in Section 9 and you must go through several missions while piloting a Fuchikoma tank.  The missions mostly consist of going through an area and destroying certain targets and ending up at the boss which is a large tank like robot.  There is also a training mode where you destroy targets in several areas and you try to do it as fast as possible and move on to the next area.  Depending on how well you do you will get one of 8 cut scenes.  If you can beat the game with out dying you will be greeted with a high quality drawing of Motoko Kusanagi!

Overall this game is fun and easy to pick up and play.  I would recommend this title to fans of the anime and people who like FSP and interesting games about robots.
